About Exhibition

“We are all born children, the trick is remaining one”. -Pablo Picasso How does one find their inner child with the weight of the world on their shoulders? I believe I am finding the answer in the idea that we are all children of God. If we learn to have faith in Him, that he’s got our back, we can then return to being the children we were born, and surprisingly meant to die as. “Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.” - Rabindranath Tagore. In this body of work, I have presented the ancient and the contemporary parts of me, represented through the most ancient Arabic script Kufi Mus-hafi while the bold colors represent a return to innocence. This is my first time working with a completely abstract-style of work which to me is a metaphor of sorts; leaving the forms and embracing the formless. A journey of leaving the known and safe for the unknown and unchartered, returning to myself and Home. Picasso brilliantly said : “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” The name of the show came to me as I woke up one morning almost like a vision. Heaven knows, it made no sense to me then. Ah! Heaven! Heaven to me is mostly an inner state, an elevated state of a higher vibrational frequency. Everything has a frequency because everything is energy vibrating at a certain frequency therefore words hold a frequency too… don’t they? Words can elevate us or put us into pits of hellishness. Let the words in these paintings here help to ascend your souls to Paradise, illuminating the heart with light and love, while you sip on your tea.
